Christian Boarding School Academics
Agape Boarding School offers many academic opportunities. We believe that every teen should have a strong academic foundation. Our boarding school offers college preparatory studies to all adolescents enrolled. Many behavior modification programs do not put an emphasis on academics. While teen programs are attempting to get a teen’s behavior back on track, their academics suffer. Many troubled teens with behavior issues also struggle academically; therefore, parents sacrifice their teens academics for his behavior modification by placing in a non-academic program. Agape’s program helps struggling teens with behavior modification and fully accredited college prep studies. Parent’s will be coached on how to address academic needs with their son. Of course, the Agape program is a program that deals primarily with behavior. From our experience, when a student gets his behavior back on track, he will start taking his education more seriously. If a teen thinks that not excelling in any one area of the program (including academics) will get him home because it is “not working”, then he will continue to manipulate in that one area. Although Agape offers a quality education, it ultimately is up to the teen to take advantage of this opportunity. Agape does strive to work with every student and parent to ensure that students participate in every part of the program. Parents that are clear with their son that they MUST excel in every aspect of the program before having the opportunity to transition home will find that their son will work much harder in the program. Our staff will coach you throughout your child’s stay. Every student is different and some teens take longer to “adjust” to the program.
Agape Christian Boarding School offers a fully accredited high school diploma through Lighthouse Christian Academy’s Dual Enrollment program
The Boarding School Academic Center is divided into three sections by age. Each section has a supervisor who oversees the students academic progress. Each student will have to complete all assignments for the week to be released to activity time on the weekends. If a student is behind in his studies, he will be required to attend mandatory study hall during activity time. Each student will also have to pass each test with at least an 80% to be able to continue in the course. If he test lower than an 80%, he will retake that section of the class. This helps the young man retain more and excel much further through the courses.
If a student is needing help in one of their subjects, they receive one on one help from their supervisor, a teacher, or a tutor. This helps students that are too shy or embarassed to ask questions in class for the help they need. It also gives the students that are ready to move on the ability to do so. The average school today does not have the time to individualized with their class. This causes the students who need individualized help to struggle and possibly fail. Agape Christian Boarding School has a curriculum that works great for students at both ends of the spectrum!
